Nova Scotia, Canada, is a major source of live lobster imports in China, accounting for as much as 95% of all Canadian lobster exports. Now good news is coming. A few months later, direct flights from Halifax to China will be officially launched.
Data show that China's demand for canned seafood in Canada has increased rapidly since 2009. In the same year, the total value of live lobster exported to China by Canada reached 27 million yuan; in 2012, it was 35 million yuan, an increase of 12 million over 2011. From 2011 to 2015, Canada's exports of lobster to the United States increased by 38%. At the same time, sales of lobster from Canada to China have also more than quadrupled.
